Performed critical maintenance to inherited UI systems to allow for accurate reporting of user data, unlocks, and game state. Expanded functionality of Create-A-Park gizmos to add state tracking, player action history, and visual consistency across platforms. Got very good at counting pixels on PS5.

Designed and implemented player proxy bots capable of performing coordinated squad behaviors and utilizing all player abilities. Created additional bots for a tutorial mode and for automated smoke tests. Designed the game's camera system. Created the seasonal "snowball fight" limited-time game mode. Authored all Season 2 quests. Built several frontend screens.

When Rivers Were Trails

Genre: Point-and-Click Adventure, Educational
Platforms: PC, Android, iOS

Engine: Unity
Roles: Technical Designer, Programmer, Writer

Created core navigation and dialogue systems. Built a random event system to provide non-repetitive encounters based on a player's current game state. Designed and tuned the game's economy. Ensured proper inclusion of content from over 30 indigenous writers, as game dialogue or unlockable journal entries. Worked closely with the client to ensure accuracy of educational content and fulfillment of project goals.

Ellie Locatis Ozkan is a technical designer with 8+ years of experience in game development. She specializes in systems design and gameplay AI, and has additional experience in UI/UX and metagame design. She is quick to learn new tools and enjoys collaborating in cross-functional teams.

Ellie graduated from Michigan State University in May 2020 with a BS in Computer Science, BA in Media and Information, and a Minor in Game Design and Development.

 

For each game she works on, Ellie is heavily involved in systems and gameplay design, from concepting to implementing to writing documentation. All of this is done with the goal of creating a positive, meaningful experiences for players.
